The Basket Case 2 From Creation Gospel Workbook Five Volume Five: Reeh (available late 2014): In this portion, sowers of seed and shepherds in the nation bring the tithes of the firstfruits. They bring the tithes to Jerusalem and lay them at the feet of that priest in baskets according to a Torah-mandated ritual. These tithes cannot be eaten just anyplace, but must be consumed with members of the Israelite community within the gates of the holy city. In Exodus, we are told that the priests shall not consume the flesh and bread outside the door of the tent of meeting because they are holy. Adonai commands that once a priest has eaten the holy flesh, the gospel of Yeshua, and the bread, the Living Bread sent from Heaven, then they are holy. They cannot consume those things just anyplace. What lesson can we draw from this pattern? Obviously the sowers of seed and shepherds of the sheep are scattered across the nations far from Israel. How can those who sow the seed of the Word and those who care for Yeshuas lambs observe and remember these mitzvoth outside the Land? The pattern suggests periodic, set times of meeting where the Word is shared and enjoyed. The best of the flesh (basar, gospel) is shared among the holy community. Perhaps we are to practice gathering with like-minded believers at these appointed times so that we may more perfectly prepare for the return of our Messiah Yeshua. If we have trouble driving a couple of hours to join and share with a holy community on Shabbat or the moedim, what do you suppose the Lion of Judah will say when thousands upon thousands either walked or rode donkeys to Jerusalem three times per year? You dont think that cost an Israelite family more than a tank of gasoline? Observe. Remember. Practice. Prepare your baskets.
