The successful applicant must be able to interpret engineering drawings and/or sketches, fabricate parts, and assemble hardware in support of R&D programs in accordance with the client and Department quality standards and procedures. While not required for the position initially, applicant must be able to pass a TS security clearance and be a U. S. Citizen. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Major Duties/Responsibilities: • Responsible for set-up, programming, and operation of CNC mills and lathes for end-to-end fabrication with minimal supervision. • Perform in process inspection to assure hardware will meet customers requirements using precision measuring instruments, i.e., I.D. and O.D. micrometers, calipers. • Review work packages for productivity issues. Communicate with shop leadership and customers as required to achieve end objectives. • Monitor and record duration and completion of work performed in accordance with standard department processes. Stay current and proficient with all applicable safety, quality and work instruction processes associated with assigned work. • Effectively communicate and coordinate via written notes, emails and through Working Leader with 1st shift counterparts to achieve efficient operations across shift boundaries. Qualifications: • Minimum 8 to 10 years experience in setting up, programming, and operating CNC mills and lathes in a precision R&D environment. • 2 to 3 years of experience with Master Cam programming software. • Ability to coordinate, communicate and team with 1st shift staff to provide seamless support of tasking across shift boundaries. Very good oral communication required to interface with shop leadership, co-workers and customers during the fabrication process. • Positive interpersonal skills and able to work well in a team-oriented atmosphere. • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple assignments at the same time. • Ability to read and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI Y-14.5.
