The Battle of Prestonpans (Cockenzie & Port Seton) v ‘Energy Park proposals’ It’s with regret I take my pen To write this ode to let ye ken That people here are less than keen On ‘those proposals’ that we’ve seen For wind turbines and cranes will bide Along with villages – side by side Foundations and the roads will quake When giant lorry-loads do make Their way - to what once was a well kent place Now being demolished – to disgrace Our coastline with a sight to daunt With no regard for what we want They’ll trample on our heritage site With floodlit workings every night A new quay stretching near to Fife Not conducive to our seaside life No artist’s impression have we had Of happy families, Mum & Dad With children making daisy chains Whilst picnicking under sky-high cranes! So remember the battle gone before We thought we’re safe – need fight no more But THIS fight not with England lies But bloody Scottish Enterprise!
