The Berbers of North Africa are called the “blue people” because their dyed blue clothing seeps through and permanently colors their skin. You could say they’re a metaphor for all of us, tinted by experience, whether on a beach in Morocco, in a living room in Hyde Park, on a veranda in the church of the Madonna of the Forsaken Child in Rome, at the Sepulcher of the Grossly Overweight Gourmand Tourist in Lyon, or at the Abyss of the Hallucinogenic Nightmare at King’s Landing.
