The Better Angels is a 2014 American biographical drama-historical film about the formative years of United States President Abraham Lincoln directed by A. J. Edwards. The film had its premiere at 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2014. The film was later screened in the Panorama section of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival on February 8, 2014. In March 2014, Amplify acquired the distribution rights of the film, with schedule to release the film November 7, 2014. The story of Abraham Lincolns childhood, his up bringing in Indiana and the hardships and tragedies that made him the man he was. At an isolated log cabin in the harsh wilderness of Indiana circa 1817, the rhythms of love, tragedy, and the daily hardships of life on the developing frontier shaped one of our nations greatest heroes: Abraham Lincoln. Using glorious black and white cinematography to conjure an America where the land was raw, this film sheds new light on the formative years of the future president and the two women who molded him into one of the most revered men in American history.
