The Bible Speaks… Daily Instruction for Real Living July 10, 2013 Water is an essential ingredient for our survival. It makes up about 70% of our body weight. It keeps us hydrated allowing for increased bodily functions. It cleanses us both internally and externally. In order to maintain the correct body temperature, we must have water; I guess you could say water keeps us “cool and collected”. It protects our nervous system which includes our brain and spinal cord. Fluidity in movement is aided by water which keeps our joints cushioned. Necessary for internal cleansing, it helps us get rid of toxins and waste. We see from this that water is essential for our existence. God in his infinite wisdom drew correlations between that which is natural with that which is spiritual. Just as natural water is necessary for the human body to function properly, spiritual water is necessary for the born again believer to function properly. Jesus said in John 7:37b-38 states that if any man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! He who believes in me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on me] as the Scripture has said, from his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water (Amplified Bible). Are you having trouble functioning in the body of Christ? Maybe, you might be having trouble just living in your own skin. Do you find that everything gets on your nerves and you seem to have a short fuse? Are you wearing garments that have been spotted by sin or neglect? Have you gone through some rough times and find that you are struggling with bitterness, depression, or heartbreak and need to be cleansed on the inside? Be refreshed! The Holy Spirit is that living water that Jesus spoke of according to John: 39. Believe, receive, and cleave to the person of the Holy Spirit – out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:37-39 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
