The Blue Moon Café, located in the Sydney Building, was one of the few places in the city you could go for a meal in the 1950s Canberra. At the time this footage was filmed, Emmanuel Gerakiteys ran the café in partnership with Greek brothers Spyros and Peter Cassidy . The Cassidys and the Gerakiteys were just two of the many Greek families who immigrated to Canberra from the 1930s onwards and contributed to local public life. As well as the confectionery counter and milk bar, its possible to glimpse the dining booths inside the café. For Ruth via Australian Screen. Thank you for joining us at CanberraFacebook as we showcase the city we live in and love so much. Jay, James & Em.
