The Book Game! No way I can just pick 10 books. Ive been a voracious reader since I was a kid so Im going a little different route starting with my teenage favorites. 1. Agatha Christie- Ive read every one, multiple times, Poirot, Miss Marple. Agatha would be at my dinner table(you know the one where you pick 10 people who youd most want to have dinner with. 2. Mary Stewart- plucky damsels in distress, innocent romances, mystery, Lipizzaner stallions, Oh yeah and the Merlin/King Arthur series! 3. Daphne Du Mauier- Frenchmans Creek, Rebecca, My Cousin Rachel, House on a Strand...So many classics! 4. The Mists of Avalon- this was a game changer for me. Love the King Arthur lore, but to read it from the female perspective! A very different story! Youll never look at Morgana the same way. 5. Anne Rice- vampires, witches, exotic settings, rich and sensuous. I so very badly wanted to be a member of the Telemasca! She also wrote a fictional account of Jesus Christs childhood. Its completely different from anything else she had written and so very good. 6. Trinity- Leon Uris -In Ireland there is no present, no future only the past happening over and over again Brilliant story of the Catholic/Protestant conflict told from several perspectives. Absolutely gut wrenching. 7. Centennial- this story takes place in Colorado beginning when the dinosaurs roamed the continent, through the native Indians, the Scottish and French trappers, cattlemen, sheep hearders, farmers all converging in the voice of the narrator who is the descendent of the people, whos story he is telling. 8. The Autobiography of Malcolm X- hes not who you think he was. And if you havent read this book, dont even bother arguing with me. Malcolm would also be at my dinner table. Brilliant, fascinating man. 9. Da Vinci Code- a complex mystery, museums, beautiful works of art, the sacred feminine. Mind Blown. 10. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society- quite possibly the best book I have ever read. When my friend Alison Choate Marschewski gave me this to read she said she loved the people in this book. She wanted go to this place and be friends with them. Me too. I could add on, but I think Ive rambled long enough. I got in trouble for tagging last time so this time Ill just invite any who want to, to participate.
