The Brush High School English Department will present Poetry Out Loud, a national recitation contest for students in grades nine through twelve on Mon., Jan. 27 at 5:00 in the BHS auditorium. The following ten students will compete for the school-wide title: JoJo Demont, Adam Eldridge, Grey Finnell, Dena Firkins, Kallysta Garcia, Stephanie Hunter, Damian Martinez, Kendric Oldenberg, Tobias Uhrig, and Brandon Valencia. The BHS champion will compete in the Colorado state contest in March, and the state winner will go on to compete in the national finals at the end of April in Washington, D.C. We hope that you will come out and watch these impressive students recite a variety of poetry, both classic and contemporary. Each contestant will perform two poems (taking place in two rounds), and the event should last approximately 90 minutes.
