The Buck Stops Here - Oh, Deer! I was focused on a Great Blue Heron, off in the distance, hoping it would fish for its supper closer to where I was standing (it has happened in the past), when all of a sudden I hear, Clop, clop. I turn around, and maybe 10 or 15 feet from me stands this beautiful deer. Just standing there and staring at me. It wasn’t even dusk yet. I was hoping to photograph the deer a little later on, but I did what I could. Composing and focusing quickly, I just started pressing the shutter button. Moments later, I was photographing some foliage nearby, and wouldn’t you know it, he again makes an appearance, this time trotting off into the depths of this nature reserve. Camera/lens: Nikon D600/Tamron 70-300mm with image stabilization engaged. Location: Emily Oaks Nature Center, Skokie, Illinois.
