The Bureau of Land Management has released the Draft Environmental - TopicsExpress

The Bureau of Land Management has released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the reconfigured Palen Solar Energy Project. This is the Federal review, separate from the State review. The project would convert nearly 4,000 acres of unique Colorado Desert habitat into two giant solar power towers surrounded by reflector mirrors (heliostats). The project would impact rare plants, desert tortoise, Mojave fringe-toed lizards, kit foxes, eagles, water birds and be visible from wilderness areas and Joshua Tree National Park. There are several archeology sites that would also be destroyed. We are asking them to consider an off site alternative and distributed generation technology.
