The Bureau of Meteorology have issued a flood watch just now - note that this Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. FLOOD WATCH For Adelaide, the Mount Lofty Ranges and Mid North districts. For Friday evening through to Monday. Issued at 5:14 pm CST on Thursday 18 July 2013 By the Bureau of Meteorology, South Australia. This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. Weather Situation: A deep low south of Kangaroo Island is moving southeast. In its wake, a broad, fresh to strong and unstable southwesterly airstream will develop over SA and persist for several days, generating showery conditions. A series of troughs embedded in this airstream may cause more frequent, heavier showers at times from later Friday through to Monday. Rainfall: In the 24 hours to 9 am Thursday, rainfall of 10 to 25 mm occurred across Adelaide and the Mount Lofty Ranges, with 5 to 15 mm across the Mid North. Further falls of 30 to 50 mm are forecast across Adelaide, the Mount Lofty Ranges and Mid North districts over the next four days, with the potential for local falls of 50 to 80 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges south of about Adelaide. Flood Risk: There is a risk of rising water levels and localised flooding in creeks and watercourses from Friday evening. People living or working close to rivers or creeks should monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be prepared should flooding develop. Source: bom.gov.au/ Stuart (Admin)
