The CURRENCY OF ADVICE PAULINE Text Reference : Philippians 3:1-10 INTRODUCTION In the third chapter of his letter to the Philippians , Paul continues revealing concern about the " evil workers " . They took advantage of his absence to introduce false doctrines in the church . To forestalls it for three times the apostle says : " keep yourselves " ( Philippians 3:2). In this lesson , we will see that Paul also did not fail to urge the Philippians that , even in the face of adversity , to rejoice in the Lord ( Philippians 3.1 ) , for the joy of the Lord is our strength ( Nehemiah 8:10 ) . ACCORDING TO THE TEACHING OF PAUL THE APOSTLE Philippians , TRUE CHRISTIAN IS INDEED TRUE CIRCUMCISION , NO CUSTOM OF JUDAISM . THE APOSTLE USA THREE CONCEPTS TO IDENTIFY SUCH CHRISTIANS : 1 ) were those who " worshiped by the Spirit of God." The word translated in the NIV as " worship " ( latreuo ) is used in the LXX [ Septuagint ] and the book of Hebrews to refer to the service of the priests in the Temple (Exodus 23:25 , Deuteronomy 6:12 , Hebrews 8:5; 10.2 ) . The word is also used in Romans 12:1 , where Paul urges his listeners to offer their bodies to God as a sacrifice , as well as a " spiritual act of worship ." Paul continues to encourage the Roman Christians to allow their minds to be renewed and their lives empowered by the Spirit , exercising their gifts to serve one another ( Romans 12.2-8 ) . 2 ) The Philippian Christians should not have any physical signs as proud to demonstrate its condition of communion , but rather, should boast in Christ and his work . They should not put their trust in the rule and rituals respected and valued by those who lived under the Mosaic law . The proud of the Christian should never be to be blameless in regard to the commandments of the law ( Philippians 3:4).
