The CYCSA as an RYA accredited sailing school has issued its first International Certificate of Competency. The ICC is like an international drivers licence for boaters and is recognised all around the world. In many European countries it is mandatory to hold an ICC if you wish to charter a yacht. Evan Higgins turned up at the club on Thursday and spent 4 hours at sea on Academy 1 with our ICC tester and Yachtmaster Instructor Brett Yardley. After a range of practical tests including pilotage, berthing, picking up a mooring and of course sailing the boat, Evan passed with ease. The test also included tasks on navigation and a good understanding of international regulations for boats. Evan will receive his certificate within a few weeks enabling him to head off for some amazing European destination for a yacht charter holiday later in the year.
