The California Geographical Societys annual conference was held at Los Angeles City College this past weekend. This event engages students and faculty from community colleges, undergraduate and graduate programs and creates a supportive and enthusiastic environment for all. This years program included a panel featuring Jenny Zorn, Tom Herman, and Zia Salim who led a discussion about how CGS members could become involved in the CGA. We look forward to increasing the number of geographers around the state who are conducting outreach and raising awareness of the importance of geography education, working directly with K-12 teachers in their areas, generating model lessons and educational resources, and even participating in policy advocacy. Long live collaboration between the CGA and CGS!
