The California Innocence Project recently freed inmate Michael Hanline following 36 years of wrongful incarceration stemming from a Ventura County murder conviction. The Innocence Project has demonstrated keen analytical skill and effective advocacy in defense of the wrongfully convicted. In addition to thanking the Innocence Project for his freedom, Mr. Hanline praised the Ventura County District Attorneys Office for its willingness to look at the integrity of his conviction with an open mind. The Ventura County District Attorneys has demonstrated its commitment to justice by establishing a Conviction Integrity Unit headed by Special Assistant District Attorney Michael Schwartz.
