The Calm before the Storm: Right before the great recession the stock market and housing bubble both provided a false sense of security. Rating agencies failed to report accurate accounts of the investment values. Deregulation allowed big business to act recklessly, approving loans that they knew would fall through all for the sake of fast money. The Federal Reserve failed to keep in check the actions of these cooperations and ignoring the warning of their counterparts.
