The Carlisle Cricketclub Blue U13, unbeaten juggernaut rolled - TopicsExpress

The Carlisle Cricketclub Blue U13, unbeaten juggernaut rolled back into town, alas due to county commitments, with 4 important components missing! Add to this another regular on the treatment table with a metacarpal predicament and the wheels coming off was maybe a possibility! Staunton U13s won the toss, elected to bat and before long our bowling attack began to haemorrhage runs in alarming fashion! Add to this fielding erring on the side of calamitous, a big total was on the cards! Impressive batting from Staintons Reece Preston (31) and Luke Savage (33) added to the Blues misery and put into the mix, 6 dropped catches and Stainton posted an impressive 142 for 5. Carlisle progressed well with the bat, but the run rate was climbing steeply with each passing over. Jake Whittaker (23) and debutant Marcus Tiffen (17) battled in vain, but both their wickets bit the dust as they pushed for runs. Johnny Westgarth (21) and James Brown (11) scampered for runs like scalded cats, as Staintons very efficient fielders restricted the Blues to few boundaries in their chase. The match drew to a conclusion with Carlisle reaching a creditable 106 for 4, still 36 adrift. All credit to a fine Stainton performance, as they removed the wheels and left the Blues juggernaut on blocks at the side of the road! Big thanks to our willing replacements Alice Heaton, Marcus Tiffen, Seamus Edwards, Jack Crawford and Ben Gill who all put in a great effort!
