The Cavs have acquired Timofey Mozgov. They traded for Mozgov by giving up 2 1st round draft picks (both are protected) and absorbed his contract by using the Trade Exemption acquired in a past Keith Bogans deal. Do you think giving up two 1st round picks for Timofey Mozgov was a good move or a bad move? Pros for the trade: 1. If you interpret the trade as Dion Waiters and Picks for Mozgov Smith and Iman Shumpert the trade sounds more even. 2. Opponets have scored 56.5% of their interior shots against Cleveland. The only team with a worst interior defense is the Timberwolves. 3. Mozgoz only allows 48.6% successful shots at the rim. Varejao allowed 55% and K.Love allows nearly 60% of shot attempts at the rim to convert 4. David Blatt and Mozgov go back to the Russian National team. He understands Blatts system and gives him some loyalty. Cons 1. The Mavericks acquired Rajon Rondo a 4x all star for less than what the Cavs paid for Mozgov ( Timofey has only had an above average per once in his career) 2.The Cavs are completely capped out. The acquisitions of Smith, Iman, and Mozgov places them nearly 8 million into the tax. 3.Picks are immensely coveted assets because it allows teams to acquire players for cheap. (Those picks are even more valuable when you take in the account the fact that Cleveland is already 8 mill into the luxury tax)
