The Changing Power of the Gospel 2 Corinthians 5:17 - TopicsExpress

The Changing Power of the Gospel 2 Corinthians 5:17 Wherever the true gospel of Christ is proclaimed, lives change for the better. Paul declared that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth (Rom.1:16). But those who oppose Christ and Christianity accuse Christians of having turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6). Many godly missionaries and mission organizations have been falsely accused of destroying the cultures of indigenous people with the gospel of Jesus Christ, arguing that the people are happy the way they are and wish to be left alone. Some even claim that before the missionaries came, the indigenous people had no disease or bad habits. But if one speaks with these people, they will tell you that they are not one big happy family but that their lives are filled with fear of revenge from their enemies and fear of the many unseen evil spirits that are impossible to appease. They kill so as not to be killed. Everything they do is ruled by the spirit world and the laws of the witch doctors. They think that they live in harmony with nature, but they have no peace with God. Yet when the gospel is presented to these people, they do not become miserable, nor do they lose all sense of dignity and the will to live, as some anthropologists claim. Instead, they experience a freedom from the bondage of sin and Satan; they learn to forgive their enemies and actually reach out to them with the compassion of Christ. Killings become a thing of the past, and immorality declines. Read the account of the demon-possessed man of Gadera in Mark 5:1-20 and see how the Lord Jesus Christ took a life that was upside down and made him spiritually upright. What good news!
