The Charisma of Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi (born Mohandas Karamchand - TopicsExpress

The Charisma of Gandhi Mahatma Gandhi (born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi) was one charismatic leader. His charisma can be gauged from his popularity among the masses. In a nation ravaged by poverty and stifling under the yoke of imperialism, the people were yearning for a leader who could raise their collective voices. In a man clad in white khadi dhoti, they saw a visionary, a messiah who promised them freedom. Though Gandhi might rightly be criticized for advocating austerity, for his conservative thoughts on celibacy and his uncompromising political stance, but even his critics would not deny the efficacy of his non-violent means of protest and disobedience. Gandhi left behind a legacy of non-violence, peace and compassion and we must ask ourselves, are we doing justice to his sacrifices? My question for today is--If given an opportunity to ask the father of our nation one question, what would it be? P.S. On a related note, heres an interesting answer on Quora--quora/How-did-Mahatma-Gandhi-unite-millions-of-people-to-fight-for-independence-in-a-non-violent-fashion -V
