The Childers Family YMCA expresses sincere sadness in the loss of our oldest, active YMCA member, Mr. Heyward Canington, Sr. Mr. John Heyward Canington, Sr., 93, of Waycross died Tuesday afternoon at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after a brief illness. He was honored as the Childers Family YMCA Man of the Year in 2012. My Canington was a daily visitor of the YMCA until recently; and oh, how he loved our steam room. He was loved by our members and staff and will be greatly missed.
