The Childrens Policy and Law Initiative of Indiana is excited to announce our upcoming 2014 Fall Lunch CLE Series. Join us for the first CLE session at the IU McKinney School of Law Moot Court Room on Wednesday, August 6 from noon to 1pm with pizza and refreshments to follow to hear a moderated panel discuss school discipline and school-based arrests as a civil rights issue. On January 8, 2014, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education issued their Dear Colleague Letter and Guidance on School Discipline, www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/letters/colleague-201401-title-vi.pdf. This panel will discuss the Guidance letter and the obligation of schools under federal law civil rights laws to administer school discipline without discriminating on the basis of race, color national origin. Law students and the public are admitted free. Attorneys can earn CLE credit for a minimal fee! See the attached flyer for more details about the CLE series and instructions on how to register.
