Studies have shown that sleeping too long or not enough each night can increase the risk for diabetes. Obesity. Sleeping too much or too little could make you weigh too much, as well. One recent study showed that people who slept for nine or 10 hours every night were 21% more likely to become obese over a six-year period than were people who slept between seven and eight hours. This association between sleep and obesity remained the same even when food intake and exercise were taken into account. Headaches. For some people prone to headaches, sleeping longer than usual on a weekend or vacation can cause head pain. Researchers believe this is due to the effect oversleeping has on certain neurotransmitters in the brain, including serotonin. People who sleep too much during the day and disrupt their nighttime sleep may also find themselves suffering from headaches in the morning. Not getting enough sleep can sometimes be a bad thing. But did you know that getting too much sleep is just as bad? How To Do Sleep Management? Take following ACTIONS The Important 10 Steps 1- Plan your day. If you know you have a list of things to do, it will motivate you to wake up and get the things finished as soon as possible. 2-Go to sleep at your usual time. Dont go to sleep later and expect to wake up in the morning earlier. Youll want to sleep in and thats the thing you dont want to do. If you do have to change your schedule, get to bed as soon as possible and continue to wake up at the same time . 3-Set an alarm. It doesnt have to be too early, just enough to get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep. Do this for at least a month and your body will get used to waking up at this time so you wont have to use the alarm. Try not to hit to snooze button, however, it trains your body to stay tired in morning. If you have a coffee machine that will start at certain time automatically, set it so you can wake up to the scent of fresh brewed coffee. 4-Tell other people. If you dont hear your alarm or if you forget to set it, make sure there is somebody around to make sure you dont sleep in too late. 5-Wake up at the same time on weekends. If you break your habit of getting 7-9 hours of sleep every day, itll be harder to get back into the routine on the week days. 6-Have a morning routine. It may be sit-ups followed by a shower, getting dressed, and coffee. But once its a habit, then you will automatically do it when you wake up instead of rolling over for a few more Zs. 7-Wake up and do something. Once youve done your routine, get moving. Walk to work, or if you drive, park a bit out and take the stairs up. On the weekend, you can go for a walk or vacuum. Whatever you do, get your blood moving. Itll let you clear mental cobwebs left by sleep and settle into wakefulness. 8-Be healthy. By replenishing the vitamins and nutrients in your body, you can keep yourself on track. Drink lots of water because dehydration can make you overtired and can make it harder to wake up in the morning. 9-Exercise. Keeping your blood flowing during the day can keep your body in shape and will make your sleeping habits more healthy. If your job doesnt allow you to get some sort of physical activity, try jogging or yoga before dinner. However, dont exercise before bed time or it will make it harder to fall asleep. 10-Reduce the amount of caffeine you consume in a day. Caffeine late in the day can reduce your quality of sleep, leading to grogginess in the morning.
