The Chrissie Hynde at the Beacon Report: It was wonderful to be with Ignacio/Iggy and Molly and Kathy but honestly, unless you have great seats, I dont LOVE the Beacon and, since Im being honest, I dont love being in a seat at all. Id much rather be up in front with the masses having a more communal and visceral musical experience. That being said, Chrissie rocks. Shes totally hot and shes way cool. Shes a goddess of rock and roll. The band was good, but they were no Pretenders. She sang most of the songs from her (really good) new solo album and a good selection of Pretenders classics (Kid, Precious, My City was Gone, Tattooed Love Boys, Back on the Chain Gang, Talk of the Town, Night in my Veins) and even as a nod to her former husband, I Go to Sleep. It was short, to the point and really fun. While she was excellent and still sounds awesome, it did not blow my mind as other shows recently have. Next up: Peter Hook and the Light doing a Joy Division set followed by Low Life and Brotherhood in their entirety.
