The City of Cheyenne’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at the City’s Solid Waste Transfer Station, 220 North College Drive, will hold its last free residential household hazardous collection date on Saturday, April 12 before construction starts on a new facility. The City accepts household hazardous waste on an appointment only basis. The facility accepts hazardous waste from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. only. Household Hazardous Waste items are pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, solvents and paint and common household cleaners. To make an appointment for Saturday, April 12, call the Sanitation Division at 637-6440 by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Once completed the new facility will be open year round and will be free for residential household hazardous waste drop off. The new facility is expected to take seven months to construct. Monument Builders of Cheyenne will construct the $2.1 million facility. It is being paid for by money from the County Consensus Block Grant and the State Loan And Investment Board. The City is planning to have two special household hazardous waste collections this summer. Dates, location and hours of operation for these special collection dates will be announced later.
