The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the required compliance to it, that the Office for Civil right was not adequately enforcing, created a niche in Oklahoma Higher Education that nobody wanted. But this White guy (me) stumbled into and worked in for 30 years, desegregating a former de Jure Southern State and removing the vestiges of segregation there in. Some time in the not so distant future as I am walking the streets of Ancient Pompeii I will think back about the undoable job that made it all possible and smile.
