The “Cold Weather Rule, October 15 through April 15”: I proposed a resolution for this at yesterday‘s Council meeting. This was only meant to keep People Warm during the cold months. The cold weather rule wasn’t meant to divide “good renters” from “bad renters”, blame, point fingers, or pit them against one another as it seems the other Council Members would like it to be. It is only meant to keep our people warm and to avoid making our people move out in the cold months. The arrears issue was here long before I was in office. I am just trying to reach for positive results. My intention was to get tenants a warm place until April 15 and in the meantime, maybe if the other Council Members can find the time, we can meet with the tenants individually and ask them what their housing issues are and possibly get them resolved. It is NOT my intention to enable tenants to get by WITHOUT paying their rent. I am here to advocate for struggling families and to keep our people safe. Miigwech, Accountability and Transparency.
