The College of Hospitality Management College Student Council, the highest governing student body of the College of Hospitality Management would like to express its deepest regrets with regards to the on-going issues looming the campus over the past few days. During the recent student body meeting last August 16, 2013, the CSC along with the different organizations namely Junior Hotel and Restaurant Managers Association, Le Culinaire, League of Tourism Students of the Philippines and the college publication The Concierge would like to release the following statements: • The Student Council believes that the issue is between the school’s management and Holy Angel University Teachers and Employees Union; whereas, students need not be involved or dragged into this matter. CSC-CHM will not take any side regarding this matter unless the students’ welfare will be compromised. The CSC would also like to quote a phrase from an article from the Sunstar Pampanga last March 15 “[B]oth parties have also urged students not to get involved in the issue .“The Student Council wishes that the Admin and the HAUTEU resolve this matter peacefully and in the soonest time possible. The Council also hopes that the decision of both parties will be in the students’ best interest. • CSC-CHM would like to reiterate to students that amidst the on-going strike, there are no class suspensions as of yet. Students are expected to attend their classes as it is their responsibility to do so. The student council would like to remind everyone all the hardwork our parents go through just to send all of us to school. Substitute teachers have already been assigned to temporarily replace those who have joined the said cause. The Council would also like to say that it firmly disagrees with the circulating text messages that the substitute teachers assigned are not fit or incompetent. The student body has been informed that these substitute teachers are colleagues of the ones on strike and have undergone the same screening process as with those who are protesting outside the university therefore nullifying the said claims. • Students can practice their rights by supporting whichever side they favour, however the Student Council would like to remind everyone that they must still abide by the Code of Conduct set by the Student Manual which includes going to classes regularly. Showing one’s support can take other forms such as wearing the same colored shirts, joining prayer vigils, etc. • And lastly, CSC CHM evokes everyone to pray for this matter to pass and that the school, the college and everyone involved become more united after these trials.
