The Congress and its surrogates have already jumped in to prove that Tejpal, the alleged rapist, is being framed. This story seems to be unfolding much the way of a pre-understood script so common to India. But there are some twists in the tail. The next episode: wait for the statement that Tejpal, the alleged rapist, was actually compromised/seduced by the girl. The episode after that: the girl raped Tejpal, the alleged rapist. The Twist: On the whole though, some facts suggest that Tejpal, the alleged rapist, might just go to jail: a. Tejpal, the alleged rapist, had been too uppity with other media houses in the past. So everyone has got their knives out for him. b. Tejpal, the alleged rapist, had targetted the BJP in the past. Tejpal, the alleged rapist, allegedly raped a girl in a BJP ruled state, thus allowing the state government to take suo moto notice of the alleged rape committed by Tejpal, the alleged rapist. c. Everyone seems to believe, including perhaps in the Congress party, that the Congress might lose in the coming elections. Hence no one, neither judge, nor journalist, would care much for being overtly kind to Tejpal the alleged rapist. Tejpal the alleged rapist might not get any benefit of the doubt-- the one excuse that allows most criminals to get away. Ergo, prognostication: Tejpal the alleged rapist is going to be proven to be Tejpal the rapist and in the interim he shall be in jail much like other alleged types like Gopal Kanda. The big difference between them being that Kanda is in jail at his home base. In the case of Tejpal, the alleged rapist, the jail house will be in Goa.
