The Cross truly is the centre of everything. The two ages met together at the Cross. It was the end of the first Adam (spiritually dead men) and the beginning of the last Adam (spiritually alive men). All that ever went before the Cross pointed forward to it and all the followed strongly looks back to it. Sense knowledge stands mute in the presence of the tragedy of the eternities. Deity is to suffer for humanity. Justice had demanded and He became answerable. Justice has decreed that man must pay the penalty of his transgression. Man was in bankruptcy. Man was impotent, helpless and in slavery. He could not approach God. He could not meet the demands of Justice. So, out of the heart of God, came the solution of the human problem. His Son said, Here am I, send Me. And on towards the cross He went. One of the most difficult features of this study was the disciples ignorance of what was taking place. He is Jehovah manifested in the flesh and paying the dept of mans transgression, and there was not an eye that penetrated through the disguise. Pilate and the Priesthood and the Senate did not sentence my Jesus to death, nor did the Roman soldiers and the angry mob nail Him to the tree, it was the unseen forces that guided them. They were merely instruments. They were all actors playing different roles. The great drama of Redemption was written the Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world. In fact, before anything was created including Satan and all the host of heaven, I mean before the beginning began, the Drama was written with the names of the actors. And Satan was ignorance of this, for had it been he knew, he wouldnt have played his role. That is the great mystery of our Redemption. Hallelujah!!! Thank You lord Jesus. Father we are forever grateful. Amen.
