One of the top radio announcers for ABC Raymond Gram Swing announced July 3rd, 1946 on a live nationwide radio broadcast that for the first time ever a cure for cancer had been found. He was fired 2 weeks later after a pharmaceutical corporation (known today as Merck) bought ABC. The Pepper/Nealy Anti-Cancer Bill, US Senate document #8947, was never brought to any floor in Congress to be voted on, and now collects dust in the US Printing Office.
