The Delta from where blues music originates has nothing to do with New Orleans or the mouth of the Mississippi. Its a triangle between the border Mississippi-Tennessee, the Mississippi and Yazoo river. A very fertile area full of cotton fields (also very poor these days), also strategically located on Highway 61 (which goes North to Chicago and the industrial areas of the US, where African Americans fled to find a job after Reconstruction), where most older bluesmen were born (Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, BB King, John Lee Hooker)... Excited to be visiting the heart of the delta today!
