The Democratic Republic of the Congo outbreak of Ebola looks to have stabilized and is under control. No further outbreaks reported since 66 cases were confirmed with 38 deaths after a lapse of 42 days on November 21, 2014. The 42 day lapse period is important to be mindful of. This is two times the maximum days of possible transmission. If in the 42 day period there are no new outbreaks, then the epidemic is considered controlled with no new transmission and no risk of new outbreaks.
