The Disappearance of Boeing 727-247 OB-1303 It is not the first - TopicsExpress

The Disappearance of Boeing 727-247 OB-1303 It is not the first time an airliner has disappeared without trace. The Boeing 727 owned by Faucett Airlines of Lima (least to Air Malta) had left Keflavik, Iceland for Gander on September 11, 1990. At 15:20, a distress message was received by the crew of TWA flight 851 and American 35 that the low fuel light was on. They were preparing to ditch. Nothing more was heard from the flight. It has never been found. What is also strange about this flight is that, not only did the crew have their families on board, there was never a crash investigation or a real concerted effort to find them. There was some debris found but it wasnt certain that it came from the aircraft. The jet was carrying a crew of 3 and 15 other Peruvian employees of Faucett Airlines. The plane went down near Newfoundland, Canada and the aircraft position wasnt well known. The Canadian government did not investigate what happened. Nor did the US investigate. So this is a unique case where, to my knowledge, a large aircraft was lost and there was no serious investigation to learn what happened.
