The Discipline of Waiting . . . Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord. (Psalm 27:14 AMP) Many times I have been asked;Brother Tony, why do you think we have to go through hard times, dark times when it seems we just dont hear from God? Here is what I believe the Bible teaches us - 1) The hard times TEST us to prove to us (not to God) what we depend upon and WHOM we truly trust. Abram received a promise from God and a vision of what would be, then he had to WAIT in silence. Tired of waiting, he and Sarah devised their own plan to help out God since He must have forgotten. They depended upon themselves and settled for something less than God desired for them. The result- TROUBLE AND 13 MORE YEARS OF SILENCE! Israel had to wait 400 years in silence and slavery before the promise of a deliverer came in Moses. Then, because of their LACK OF FAITH in Gods WORD, and their DISOBEDIENCE they wandered another 40 years in the desert until a generation died off before they would enter in to the promised land. 2) Dark times REVEAL the LIGHT that is in us! They determine what and whom we fear. THE Lord is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid(Psalm 27:1 AMP) All who come to Christ MUST BE TRAINED and DISCIPLINED! We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.(Romans 8:28 AMP) There is so much more. I shall save it for another time. Thats why it is called DISCIPLESHIP!
