The Downtown Goldsboro Artifact Recovery Project is back up and ready again for business! All hands on deck ...or I should say dirt! Work will begin again this Saturday morning! Please spread the word. We need to go through many piles of fresh dirt that has been delivered from the south-west end of Goldsboros Historic Center Street. We suggest that you wear shoes or boots that you dont mind if they get muddy. I would plan for the weather just in case. Bring a hard rake, potato rake or hand rake if possible. If you dont have any tools ..e anyway! There is much to do to help out. Metal detectors are welcome. Remember that everything MUST be turned in when discovered. We collect everything found including broken glass, pottery, plates, old bricks and railroad spikes to name at few. It all tells us something of the life of the citizens living in early Goldsboro. All special finds deemed exceptional will be recorded as your discovery and will be displayed along with your name in the Wayne County Museum for all to see! The work site is located in the large empty lot next to the Rosewood area McDonalds/Hess just after you cross the Little River on the right on Hwy 70 West. See you there! Kirk Keller
