The Dudley football team fight is now in full swing... People are coming down on both sides of the situation.... Most are in support of the Dudley team, some are bitter because Dudley beat the brakes off of them, some just because they hate Dudleys success... No matter where you fall in this situation the kids are the ones paying the price.... There are a lot of rumors floating around and most are not true... The race card has been pulled and whites are crying foul over it.... Saying that it takes away from what is being fought for... Southeast is being blamed for the timing of the reporting of the situations.... Well with all that said, lets wade in to the facts of what has happened.... 1. Did Southeast turn Dudley in, and did they wait until after the brackets were cast??? On both answers it is No and No.... We turned ourselves in... Every Monday morning teams have to turn in a roster of every player that dressed and played in the game that Thursday and Friday.... 2. Did the coach do this on purpose??? No... Heres the facts of what happened.. Dudley scores and lines up for the kick off with 2:10 left in the game that was already won by almost 3 touchdowns... On the scoring play a player that was on the kick off team was hurt... So when the kick off team went out on the field they only had 10 players... The coach turns to the team and says Give me a warm body on the field seeing a chance to get in a varsity game one of the dressed out jv players runs out on the field to fill that spot.... Thats where the violation took place.... No planed cheating, no acts to change the outcome of the game... Just a player wanting to get in a varsity game.... Yes they dressed 4 players.... No there was no one trying to get over on the rules.... It was all a heat of the moment mistake.... 3. Is there race involved???? No... Just the High School sports twisted rules.... Dudleys crime is no different than what Northerns was last year... The difference is that Northerns happen earlier in the season.... The rules are out of whack, in that you dont turn your paper work in until Monday, but they set the brackets on Saturday.... Why wouldnt they wait until the paper work is all turned in to set the brackets, then penalize a team saying weve already set the brackets??? What is your rush to set the brackets??? Whether you get them Saturday or Monday, you still dont play until Friday???? 4. Should Coach Davis be fired???? HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What he has done with those young men is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!! Those kids work their behinds off in the classroom, and on the field, and Coach Davis hold them to a high standard... As I have heard from Referees that work the football games... They love to come to Dudley, because the players all say Yes Sir, and No Sir.... where else is such small things as manors instilled in football players... The sense of team and all for one is instilled in those young men... Ive seen one players car break down all his team mates stop and help him... They work as a unit not as its about me..... Something we all could use a lesson in sometimes.... 5. Did Dudley do this because they needed to??? No!!! They were undefeated for the last 25 games... They were on their way to the playoffs period... The player didnt go in until the game was over scoring that matter wise.... The game was over, just 2:10 left on the clock in the fourth quarter... This player wasnt going to be the savor of the game... The game changer... Dudley had already won the game by almost 5 touchdowns, or at least that was what it would have taken for Southeast to win.... Dudley didnt need this game to get into the playoffs because even a 9 and 1 team will make the playoffs any where in the country....
