The Duncanville City Council recently approved an Inter-local Cooperation Agreement with Cedar Hill for Police Canine Services. Why I supported this agreement: At one time, Duncanville used its own canines from 1990 to 2008. However, the overhead costs of maintaining the canine service, coupled with the drain on police manpower made the service difficult to continue in the face of the Recession and declining City revenues. So this program will now be a shared service with Cedar Hill. We do have a long and successful history working with our neighboring cities to providing combining services and holding down the costs to our taxpayers.
