The Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. is participating in the Allen Feinstein Foundation’s matching grant program for it’s Food Bank during the months of March and April. All donations, whether monetary or non-perishable food items, are allowed for match by Mr. Feinstein’s funds. This foundation is anchored in Rhode Island, where Mr. Feinstein, a multi-millionaire resides, but is available for anti-hunger programs all over the United States. Each year Mr. Feinstein gives away $1 million to fight hunger in the US. DDC has participated in the grant program for several years. All Scott County community organizations, churches, etc. are urged to conduct a food drive or special fund-raiser to be held during the months of March and/or April to be given to the Food Bank at DDC. The DDC Food Bank serves residents from all areas of Scott County. These families receive a parcel of food once each month which consists of a variety of canned goods, frozen items, drinks and other items. DDC also gives emergency help, as supply allows, to residents who find themselves in a hard place. Please consider making a donation to this worthwhile cause. All donations are tax deductible and may be dropped off at the DDC office (344 Phoenix Street in Dungannon) or at either the Dungannon Thrift Store (19007 Veterans Memorial Hwy in Dungannon) or at Mountain Treasures Thrift Store (372 West Jackson Street in Gate City, beside Farm Bureau Insurance) during regular business hours.
