The Duo, Shadows and Light, with Curtis Peoples and Heather Hedges, two very professional high achievers meets Laid Back Saturday at the Mean Woman Grill today at 11:30am. This should be Great! Grab one of the worlds best burgers and watch the magic happen! Curtis Peoples is much more than a Lubbock Musician whos worked in the music industry for some four decades. Hes worked in many recording studios and been a production manager for a host of events. Hes a graduate and former instructor of the Sound Technology program at South Plains College. He also helped launch the Crossroads Music Archive in the Southwest Collection, which is an amazing program to collect Lubbock Sounds. He continues as an archivist and I believe the department head for the collection and head of the Crossroads Recording Studio in the Texas Tech Library. She has previously been playing in a Duo with Ashley Howell, called Hedge and Howell. She is also a visual artist and a very good one (https://facebook/hedgeartdesigns). Heather grew up with D G Flewellyn as an unsuspecting guitar teacher. She says that she would watch his hand positions or chord shapes, then go home and do her best to copy the same positions to see if it sounded right. Later, she took lessons from the late Susan Grisanti These days, along with the guitar, she is dabbling with playing the washboard and flute, though she has not officially added either to her public performances. Together, they are Shadows and Light, which is described as a musical venture. Though this is a rather new duo, theyve apparently performed together with the Flatland Dance group at their Collide Concert in the past. What we can assure is that this will be a very talented and creative duo, who will be performing a mix of Jazz, blues, folk and other fusion music.
