First we have the return of award-winning Scottish comedian Alan Francis, poised with his passport and visa application (expect a few wry comments about the outcome of the Scottish independence vote). Alan’s stand-up is as unfussy as it comes, a self-confessed cantankerous middle-aged man bemoaning what the world has become thanks to the march of technology. Topical, satirical and hugely entertaining. This September’s brilliant line-up also features a turn from the hilarious slapstick comedy troupe Three Half Pints. With influences like Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, the Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy, Three Half Pints are bringing back a fading art, with timeless comic antics. Their show follows three shorter than average brothers Dick, Derek and Ernie and their antics just trying to get by, day by day, in a world thats too big for them. Nick Root is up next with his relaxed, laid-back style with undertones of anger and bitterness. He combines razor-sharp gags and clever word play with things he despises in a self-deprecating way. Finally, to conclude September’s outstanding comedic line-up we have the incredibly entertaining Irish upstart Aiden McQueen.
