The Embassy of the Philippines in Kuala Lumpur, the University Sains Malaysia and Bureau of Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are pleased to invite you to join us at a Philippine Cultural Night on September 11, at 8pm at Dewan Budaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia 11800 Minden Penang. Visiting Penang to perform at the Cultural Night are the Mindanao-based Maguindanao Moro Masters Artists. The members are cultural bearers and masters of Maguindanao music, dance, ritual, history, epic tradition. They are known for their expertise in gong music, compelling rituals, refined cultural dances and vividly colourful traditional regalia. Their music and performance are historically and culturally inspired by the sounds of raindrops and waves of the sea ad well as by epic stories, which they bring to life through their playing of the kulintang, aging, gandingan, babandir and dabakan. They will be joined by the Penang-based family of musicians known as the De Leon Jazz Experience. We look forward to seeing you at the Cultural Night.
