The Emerging Church Yes, there is no real relationship between the number of prisoners and the number of farmers in our nation but the juxtaposition can wake us up to social trends that we should both be aware of and which we should resist. As we privatize jails and put profit into the criminal justice system, we lose social morality and reason in how we address crime. As we choose to subsidize the crops grown by corporate farms which are not ultimately good for people to consume and stack the deck against small independent farmers who grow foods that make us more healthy then we are institutionalizing the value of short term profits over long term health. Eat foods that make you more healthy. Work for a justice system that rehabilitates rather than one that takes revenge and promotes recidivism. That is all.
