The Excitement Continues!! We have also just received a $30,000 gift from an anonymous donor to be used towards the purchase of a new passenger van! AFI vehicles travel over 120,000 miles a year transporting individuals served by AFI throughout Polk County to and from our Lakeland campus. “The new van will play a critical part in our community integration efforts here at AFI” said Shirley Balogh AFI’s CEO/President. The van will assist in transporting these individuals both in their daily commute as well as for vocational and educational programs that addresses the development of appropriate socialization skills in individuals with developmental disabilities. Through participation in community events and activities and, accessing natural supports at home and within the community, AFI works to better acclimatize these individuals to the outside world and help them to not only better integrate into, but also to become valued members of the community.
