† The Fear of Man † Saul said to Samuel, I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 1 Samuel 15:24 ESV Saul went on a mission for the Lord, but failed it because of his fear of man. For a short-term gain he kept the best cattle and sheep. After this God moved on and anointed David. Where Saul was fearful and failed, David had faith and faced Goliath. I read about a man who worked at an electronics repair shop. He was told by his boss to replace a certain part on every radio that came through, whether it needed it or not. He silently ignored it and after a week the boss came back and asked him why he was not doing this. He really needed the job but explained that he was a Christian and could not do that. He told them that he would understand if they needed to let him go. They were angry at first, but then promoted him and gave him a key to the shop because he could be trusted. If you are given the chance to obey God or man, go with God. It will work out for your good regardless of what may happen. The fear of man is always a short-term gain. Gods plan is for life - abundant life!
