The Forbidden Love Diaries: Love, Lust & Revenge Season 3: Life After Matric Episode 9: Its My Culture! She woke up the next morning with a beeping sound from her phone, and so she leaped in under her pillow and she took it out to check the text that she had just received, Baby, my life is not what it used to be, nor have I ever felt this way before. I wont lie, you are the best thing about me lately. I dont want anything but you, I dont want to love anyone besides you. When I kiss you, smell you, touch you, talk to you, my heart implodes within my heart. It jumps around like the Christmas sun, I love you so much, that I smile at the mention of your name. Just the day, Sphe told me to write her a poem about love, and I somehow mentioned your name in almost every text. Morning boo, much love. Odwa. She giggled and blushed endlessly, the text had somehow left her speechless, to such an extent that she read it three times without dropping her smile. She was in love, and cloud nine was amazing for her. So she called him and thanked him for the text and that she wants to see him later that day, and he agreed. They decided to go check hes new house. For his parents left that morning to fetch the rest of their stuff and monitor the movers, to ensure that nothing gets stolen while they are moving their belongings. The call was short and precise. Her stepmother quickly came in and interrupted her, she wanted Zanele to help her with baking, and it was so. Zanele quickly cleaned her room and took a cold bath because the sun was blazing hot. She then went downstairs and help her stepmother out, it was the first that such had happened, it was all new to her. The last time that she baked, her mother was still alive, and so that alone brought a lot of memories, thus making her think a lot and not concentrating on what she was doing. For some time, she would stare at the dough and get teary eyes, and this got to Cynthia, because, Zanele had a major void that no one could really fill, she liked her but then Zanele had a way of making things hard for people to get closer to her when she was hurt. It had been a couple of years since her mother passed on, and it still pained her to that day. Cynthia often tried to get closer to her, but then it never worked before. She made this baking thing as an excuse to bond with her, because her relationship with Zanele meant a lot to Philip. Zanele tried to the best of her abilities not to cry, but then it was harder than she could literally withstand and so her tears fell. She ran back to her room and locked the door. It was a still a messy wound, and it made sense because the day her mother died, they were baking and one ingredient was missing, and so she told Zanele to look after the stove as she quickly goes to the shop to go buy it. So she got in her car and went to the nearby mall, and on her way back she got in accident that later caused her to be in hospital in a critical condition. She died a few hours later. Zanele was not told immediately and so she was left baking alone, but as hours flew by, it dawned on her that her mother was not coming back. The memory had never faded from her mind ever since that day. Sadly, Cynthia always made her nostalgic with her ways, from her perfume to the way that she clothed herself. Everything about her reminded her of her mother, which was why she was always cold when it came to them getting closer to each other. The house was somewhat a mess in a way, but then they knew how to show-face out in public, they somehow looked perfect as a whole. People envied them and all that they had, the cars, the house, the bond, and everything. I guess they ate from the same tree as Catherine and her family, because they were just as good in pretending out in the public. It was also the same morning in her house, Catherine woke her daughter up and told her that she wants to take her out to buy some new clothes because schools were about to open. Being a classy woman, she wanted her daughter to look amazing, because her public imagine meant the world to her. So she quickly bathed and woke Odwa and then they went to Menlyn Park. There were things that she had always wanted to buy, but then with the drama in her house, she couldnt come. So she went to almost every store comparing prices of things, her mother gave her R3500 to go spend it the way that she pleased. Odwa was only given R2000, and so the kids went crazy, going everywhere, buying clothes, accessories, and things. It was a beautiful day indeed, and so later that day, they went to the rooftop to eat some pap and home-made steak. They sat there and enjoyed their meal, gazing at each other, talking about the day that they had just had. It was a great day for them to bond, and they all enjoyed themselves, and a few minutes later, they went back inside the mall and then they left. On their way out, he was astonished by what he saw. From a distance, he saw what appeared to be Sizakele, and the thought didnt pass his mind because her facebook status read, I am about to do some shopping for the school reopenings. They walked into her direction and when she saw him, she came straight to him. She greeted Catherine and Siphelele, and then she asked to have a word with him. Sizakele looked a bit different, she was a bit chubby, the girl couldnt hide her bloomy tummy. She was about ten weeks pregnant, though she didnt show that much. People knew her as the slim one, and now that her belly was growing bones, everything began to change. As she spoke with him, she often called him, Zweli, and it made no sense to him. She somehow gave her baby a name, which was Zweli. She often said, Me and Zweli as she spoke, and so she dropped the bomb as he was about to leave. She got closer to him, and he didnt flinch nor pull back, he knew exactly that she was about to kiss him and he didnt resist her. She gently kissed him and whispered, We are pregnant. Sadly, Siphelele was sent by her mother to call Odwa because he was taking too long and they want to leave. On her way there, she saw them kissing. So she stood there, close enough for him to see her, and he did. Odwa was stunned so much that he cringed and gently stuttered, without any word to air out, he hugged her and said, I am sorry for how things ended. I have to go, Ill call you, I will never stop loving you, and then he left. He then tried to convince Siphelele that not everything that she saw was the way that it all appeared, Shes my ex he said, but then nothing that he said was enough to make her believe him. So she kept quiet all the way back to their house. As they turned on their street, they saw two cars parked on their driveway. So they parked their car outside and then they made their way inside the house. When they got inside, they found about seven men in old suits, wrinkled t-shirts and pyramid like, Sotho hats. They came for a thing called, Go tlesa molato, which simply means that they came to tell Sphes family that their son got their daughter pregnant, and so they have to pay for the damages. They bamboozled Moses and so, in his defense, he called his closet friend Philip to help him out. Philip came with his neighbor that knew a lot about these cultural procedures. They all sat down and discussed the prices. Leratos family was unfair, they saw how wealthy Moses family was and called high prices, the normal price ranged in between one thousand to three, depending on the stature of the guy, things like her education and her accomplishments. The price is likely to go down if the girl has a before, and Lerato did. One of her uncles, suggested that the family paid them six thousand for the damages, and all her family agreed. It somewhat made sense because, Lerato was only a year shy of finishing her doctrine degree. Philips neighbor was very stubborn and he forced them to go down and they refused. They later came in to terms that they would pay that price, and then the uncles left. More episodes tomorrow..
