The Fountain City Teen Poetry Slam is in full swing this summer, offering a number of creative outlets for the entire family. By offering area youth, ages 13-19, of all backgrounds a safe house to use poetry as a means of self expression and exploration. Students have experienced the benefits of this auxiliary arts education in their intellectual, personal, and social development. Through weekly workshops, poetry slams, national/regional/local performance opportunities, and community service, we’re watching the future take shape one word at a time. The Fountain City Poetry Slam Team would like to invite the community to come out and support our young artists at the below upcoming events: No Child Left Behind! The 2013 Fountain City Poetry Slam Team Exhibition Show Armed with only words, these talented youth set out to change the world! Come out and support the poetry slam team as they prepare to represent the tri-city area at Brave New Voices 2013 in Chicago! Saturday, August 3rd @ 6:00 PM Admission: FREE (Donations are appreciated.) National Civil War Naval Museum, 1002 Victory Drive, 31901 Fountain City Slam Open Mic Calling all local talent of all ages to come out and express themselves! Whether you’re a poet, singer, comedian, or rapper, we welcome all talent to the mic. Sign-up starts at 7 PM. There are only 15 performance slots. Material must be 5 minutes or less.
