In fact, it exists in order to PREVENT the government from collecting such data or to exercise general warrants. No amount of squirming by political toadies will change that fact, and no amount of pleading from serial abusers of our fundamental Fourth Amendment rights should be tolerated. The NSA, and all other intel operators in the U.S., need to be brought to heel within the plain meaning of the Fourth Amendment, or they need to be immediately and permanently disbanded.
