The Galway County Council is providing 4 days of training for the purposes of preparing a digital map of Tobar Padraig cemetery. The training days which are free of charge will be on July 11 and 12th and July 18th and 19th. There are two places remaining for members of the local community who would like to participate in the training. The project involves learning how to safely access data on gravestones, photography and transfer of data to a database . A new method of digital mapping is being piloted in Tobar Padraig Cemetery. It is an important opportunity for some local people to become involved in the project, integrating heritage studies and IT competency skills.
